Postwhere to find mounts for artwork?

by zorianmatthews » Tue Mar 30, 2010 3:53 pm

Does anyone know of a company that will cut a quantity of mounts to finish off pieces of artwork?
They need to be cheap enough to make it worth while, rather than cutting them myself. (I need a lot of them cut)
Many thanks,

Hi Zorian,

I think they do mounts only, not sure, but check out 'e frames', that's where I get all my frames and mounts although usually together.
I seem to remember ordering just mounts previously though to use in a couple of frames I already had.

If you want to check it out, it's listed as one of the links on my site.

try http://www.framingmad.co.uk/

steve who runs/owns the business is an artist himself and always happy to make customised mounts and frames. I'm sure if you want volume you could come to an agreement with him on price.

Hi Zorian,

Re. Mounts

Try the Frame Factory on Sydney Street (no.7), they're brilliant for frames and mounts .... also Expo (lower level in Churchill Sq. shopping centre) ...

All the very best !

Hi Zorian, it depends what you want the mounts for and how long they will be used/shown. I assume you will use either white or light-coloured mounts that will have a 45 degree bevel-cut aperture.

There are several board/mount types available, with different inner cores; white, cream, black, etc. The cheapest ones contain bleached wood pulp and, although they appear white when initially cut, they will go a yellow/buff colour after a while. The acid-free mount-boards are dearer but will stay white.
