PostAnother scam?

by Liane Stevenson » Tue Jun 21, 2016 2:52 pm

I was recently contacted through my comments section regarding a multiple purchase of artwork. As I progressed through this sale I started to suspect that I was the victim of an attempted scam. On reading back over some former posts on the forum there seemed to be many similarities to some earlier warnings, i.e: customer seemed to be in a hurry, foreign cheque incorrectly filled out with too high a sum paid and a request for the difference to be paid back to the sender.
I emailed the potential customer asking them to state exactly which pieces they wanted to buy and to send another cheque made out for the right sum and have had no reply which leads me to suspect that this is another scam. I just wanted people to be aware that this is an on-going problem and to be on their guard. I have added the original message I recieved so people can get the general idea.

Hi Liane,
Rampant for online businesses, alas. Do not open any links, and do not reply if you are at all suspicious.
