I can highly recommend the free exhibition - Birmingham Open for anyone who lives in the (English) Midlands. It's at the Birmingham Museum and Gallery in the Gas Hall (Ground level - just off Centenary Square). They had 1500 entries from 600 artists and are displaying 260 pieces. It is a superb exhibition of contemporary British art. Runs until the end of March. It's a ten minute walk from Birmingham New Street Station and the venue/gallery is the best I've seen for displaying art. It's open and roomy, perfectly lit with a high ceiling. Go have a look.

Grrr! I was in Birmingham last weekend but only just read this! I popped into the Art Lounge gallery. that had some good pieces in it. I like Dave White's stuff.
