Hello I'm new here!

And what a great resource.
Just some news on a recent finding of mine. A few weeks ago I was contacted by a company called New Art Originals.com about a Valentines Exhibition via email. To be honest I was pretty sceptical but gave them a call and to my suprise there was a real human being on the end of the phone.I was told the exhibition would be a one day event and would be in Central London. It sounded great and signed up for a small fee. Come the day of the event I was amazed that there were another 15 or so artists taking part and the quality of the work was outstanding. There were also live acts which enhanced the atmosphere and some 200 people showed up! I didn't sell anything but I think some others did. I've also been contacted by New Art Originals about a Street Exhibition to be held in Southwark. Something about a large billboard where 12 artists can display their work. This sounds amazing but is a little bit more expensive than the previous exhibition. What's the advice out there do you think it's worth going for a space on this Billboard? Iv'e never done anything like that before.

Hi there (Sara?),

I was contacted by them last Friday about 'a huge Spring event' that they say they want me to participate in after seeing my web site.
I had actually written it off in my head although I haven't replied yet, so it is interesting to hear what you say about the one you attended.
I'm only hesitating because I am already trying to create enough stock for various other exhibitions I'm doing this year and one more might be one too far.
Plus more money out of the exhibition fund!!

Morning guys, I also displayed art with them before xmas at the bedroom bar in London. It was a good night and a great learning experience for me as it was the first time I exhibited art publicly in a city centre and my family came along to support me. I think they are a proffesional company who are trying new things. I 've read on the web where companies charge a lot more then they don't have to work hard as they've had your money. I'm not going for the street exhibition as I'm concentrating on opportunities more local, but it can't do any harm to have on your website / cv that you've exhibited in London.

Good point Azza!

I've replied to them asking how much, actual location and when? Explaining that it may be too much for me work and money wise!

After your post though I'm starting to think it may be good exposure.

Decided not to go ahead with this as it turns out it is on March 5th.
A bit too soon for me sadly.
They need work that isn't sold on any other web site and I don't currently have enough work to go around...
You were right tho' the fees were reasonable compared to some sites, didn't notice what the commission figure was tho'.
Maybe they'll still be interested in me later on when I have more artwork created.
Josh said he saw my site, was very impressed and particularly enjoyed my Indian Elephant, which is a nice compliment anyway! :D

Good luck with the billboard thing Sara!

They will contact you again Sue. They have contacted me several times about exhibiting but like yourself have other commitments and what with working full time not enough hours in the day to produce enough art. Hopefully at some stage will reduce my hours to spend more time painting. I will exhibit with them in the future at some point.

I've been contacted too several times and didn't want to pay the joining fee to newartoriginals, but maybe I don't have to join to exhibit in the March Street exhibition. Quite fancy doing that one now!

They too "particularly enjoyed" my "Pinnacles" painting. I think they have a script

I too was contacted yesterday about an exhibition in Rivington Street ,somewhere in Central London.
It sounds like there are 15 places available. Is this the same thing as some of you guys have already been to?
Thing is , I dont know if I can afford the time and money to go to London on the offchance that I might sell something.
I think I might give it a miss this time.

I have also been contacted by them few times and decided not to
go for it mainly because it is not practical for me to go to London just for one day and transport large abstracts there.

However, if I lived in London I would do it as it sounds fun!

Maybe somebody up north will think of something similar in Manchester , Liverpool , Leeds or Sheffield?

I think we all need more imagination to extract some sales in these hard times.

Best wishes to you all

I've decided to try the rivington street exhibition on the 5th March, I had to pay £25 website registration fee and a £20 exhibition fee aswell but it's in a fashionable part of Hoxton and it looks like a funky bar type place to display. I'll let you know if it was worth it

Good luck if you do decide to do it, their website is a bit basic though.

What ho! I've had the same mail (Hot Sun for me). I'm reluctant to lay out this sort of money on spec, particularly when I'm out of work.

I think I'll give this one a miss.
